Larian Studios has announced an exciting update for Baldur’s Gate 3, set to arrive in 2025. The upcoming Patch 8 will introduce cross-play support, 12 new subclasses, and a highly anticipated photo mode. This update promises to enhance the gameplay experience and bring new opportunities for players to explore the world of Faerûn.
Players on different platforms, including PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Mac, will be able to team up and play together. This feature also supports cross-progression, allowing players to continue their adventures across various devices.
Each existing class in the game will receive a new subclass, adding unique abilities, animations, and voice lines. For example, Bards will have access to the College of Glamour, Barbarians can choose the Path of Giants, and Clerics can explore the Death Domain.
Finally, the new photo mode will offer extensive customization options, including lens settings, scene settings, post-processing effects, and frames. Players can capture stunning in-game moments and share them with the community.
Larian Studios plans to stress-test Patch 8 in early January 2025, with a potential release later in the year if everything goes smoothly.
While this update is a significant addition to the game, it may also signal the beginning of the end for major feature updates, as the studio looks ahead to its next projects.
