Surprising Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.2 is About New Ways to Express Yourself

Cyberpunk 2077 continues to evolve and captivate its player base with the release of Update 2.2, introducing a variety of new features designed to enhance player customization and immersion in the vibrant world of Night City.

Of course, the entry of a surprising new Update is a big deal as since early this year, CD Projekt Red told its investor that further Cyberpunk 2077 development has ceased with the integration of its team in both Project Polaris (The Witcher new triology) and Project Orion (Cyberpunk 2077 sequel).

Enhanced Character Customization

One of the most exciting aspects of Update 2.2 is the addition of over 100 new customization options for the protagonist, V. Players can now tweak every aspect of their character’s appearance, from hairstyles and tattoos to clothing and accessories. This extensive customization suite allows players to create a truly unique version of V, reflecting their personal style and preferences.

Vehicle Customization

In a city where your ride speaks volumes about who you are, the new vehicle customization options are a game-changer. Players can now use CrystalCoat and TWINTONE features to design their cars with unique colors and patterns. Whether you prefer a sleek, monochrome finish or a bold, eye-catching design, these new tools let you transform your vehicle into a reflection of your character’s persona.

Improved Photo Mode

For those who love to capture their adventures in Night City, the improved photo mode in Update 2.2 offers a range of new options. Players can experiment with different camera angles, aspect ratios, and lighting effects to create stunning images. Whether you’re capturing a high-octane chase through the neon-lit streets or a quiet moment of reflection on a rooftop, the enhanced photo mode provides all the tools needed to produce professional-quality shots.

Johnny Silverhand’s Return

One of the more immersive features of this update is the occasional appearance of Johnny Silverhand, the iconic character played by Keanu Reeves, in the passenger seat while V is driving. This unexpected interaction adds a layer of depth to the game’s narrative and makes for some memorable in-game moments.

Update 2.2 isn’t just about adding new features; it’s about giving players more freedom to express themselves within the game. These enhancements deepen the connection players have with their characters and vehicles, making the Cyberpunk 2077 experience even more personal and engaging. The continued support and updates from CD Projekt Red demonstrate their commitment to improving the game and delivering on their promise to the community.

As Night City grows and evolves, so too does the potential for unique player experiences. Whether you’re a longtime resident or a newcomer to its sprawling streets, Cyberpunk 2077’s latest update ensures there’s always something new to discover and enjoy.

Xbox Avatar App will shutdown due low engagement from community

Microsoft has announced that the Xbox Avatar Editor app will be discontinued starting January 9, 2025. The decision comes as a result of low user engagement and a shift in focus towards delivering other player experiences.

This means that players will no longer be able to access the Xbox Avatar Editor app on Xbox consoles or PCs, including their Xbox Avatars and any purchased avatar items.

The Xbox Avatar Editor app was launched in 2018 as part of a redesign of Xbox Avatars, offering more detailed and expressive character customization options compared to the original Xbox 360 avatars.

Despite these enhancements, the app did not gain the same level of popularity as its predecessor.

While the Xbox Avatar Editor app is being discontinued, Microsoft is focusing on other ways to personalize the gaming experience, such as dynamic backgrounds and profile colors on Xbox consoles. Additionally, the company is working on a dedicated handheld device and a next-gen successor.

As expected, the announcement has been met with mixed reactions from the gaming community. Some players are disappointed by the loss of the avatar editor, while others appreciate the refunds and the continued support for Xbox Original Avatars. And for some, yet another end of an Xbox era.

By integrating Edge into the Game Bar, Microsoft aims to provide gamers with a seamless and immersive experience, making it easier to switch between gaming and other activities without losing focus.

For Microsoft there is a future for Xbox for both software & hardware

There has been a talk about Microsoft Gaming and Xbox in general and not for the good in terms on how plausible will be to maintain its position as part of the “big three” along Sony (with PlayStation) and Nintendo and how futures look blurry.

To mitigate this blurriness, Microsoft Gaming CEO, Phil Spencer, took advantage on the proper media tour post-Microsoft earnings to give some visualization on the state of the gaming market for Xbox.

Xbox is NOT quitting hardware business

Hardware historically hasn’t been a great forte in terms of Xbox Earnings, and of course, with the entry of Activision Blizzard as part of the earning has not helped matters at all.

Added to the fact that the current Game Pass Cloud push includes resorting in partners had ware like Amazon’s Fire TV devices.

Burt despite on how the public perception might be, for Phil Spencer, is all part of the plan.

To Rolling Stone he said:

We’ll definitely do more consoles in the future, and other devices.

We think about hardware that can create unique value for our players or creators on our platform. We don’t need to do incremental hardware for our own benefit.

Does a new device really give you a unique experience on screen in some way? [It’s] less like the old days, going from the original Xbox to 360 – that was standard definition to high definition. No [it’s] arder ti show té Benefit.

Also, Spencer admitted that Microsoft is working heavily on one of the poor kept-secret, the Xbox device that will challenge the Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch in the portable gaming market, but we are still years away from a proper release, so chances about what “Microsoft wants to talk at The Game Awards” in terms of hardware…might be safe to not go high on expectations.

More releases outside Xbox and PC aren’t ruled out

Early this year, Microsoft surprised the gaming world releasing four games of Xbox Game Studios in other platforms, after a big push on exclusivity.

Phil Spencer, this time told Bloomberg that they are not feeling limited on approaching other platforms after being brought the possibility of the next Halo game available on Playstation5.

I do not see sort of red lines in our portfolio that say ‘thou must not.

Also, Spencer said to Bloomberg that Spencer said Xbox is still open to more acquisitions following last year’s $69 billion purchase of Activision Blizzard.

Methodical on expansion and debunking an Avowed theory

Finally with Game File, there was an opportunity to have Phil Spencer talk about how Microsoft Gaming and Xbox Game Studios sees the development of expansions for their first party games.

While there is no rulebook and developers are not obligated to add expansions, personally he dislikes “manipulative” expansions in terms of the expansion doesn’t serve the whole experience of the game to the user and for example, it is used to “fill a cliffhanger” technically speaking.

Finally, it was time to acknowledged what happened to Avowed that was delayed until February 2025.

And no, there were not a technical thing or anything, just that this Holiday season will be a busy one with Diablo IV new expansion, Call of Duty Black Ops 6, Indiana Jones & The Great Circle, and Xbox felt that Avowed could just be lost in the “new game” backlog unneedled.
